Liquid Accounts keep calls flowing
Liquid Accounts based in Oldham are a leading provider of cloud accounting and time management software. They started working with Plum Communications in 2005 and have since moved premises in 2015 when they upgraded their systems, managed by Plum.
Back in 2005 when Liquid Accounts started working with Plum, their main criteria for a telecoms provider was affordability. “We had a lot of people making a lot of calls so we had to make sure the cost per call was a good price or it would of became prohibited very quickly”.
Anthony Boggiano, a director of Liquid Accounts, admitted they were looking at other companies but decided on Plum, as their ultimate decision was the cost per call prices.
When Liquid Accounts moved premises in 2015, they upgraded their systems and didn’t consider going with any other providers as Anthony said, “we’ve worked with Peter a very long time, so we didn’t feel the need to look around at any other providers.”
The moving and installation process went very smoothly and the whole system was installed before they moved into the premises, so by the day they moved in, it was all ready to go. Anthony said the only issue they faced was “when we moved offices, we got a new number, so we needed to reroute all the calls from the old number to the new one temporarily, Peter helped massively with that as we had many numbers in use and we wanted them centralised to as few numbers as possible. Peter made that whole process much easier.”
When lockdown came around for Liquid Accounts, “we had to get everyone home and onto the phone system which there were no problems with. The issue was getting access to the systems and moving stuff into the cloud as quickly as we could so our staff weren’t having to log on remotely to a PC in the office to access the systems. All we needed to do was give Peter a call and he helped with the whole procedure”. The whole process ran so smoothly that Liquid Accounts are considering an element of remote working on a permanent basis.

When adapting to the new systems, going from the 2005 one to the 2015 one, it was difficult to get the ball rolling. Anthony said, “we were very sceptical in the beginning- moving from fixed line ISDN to voice over IP, as we had heard some horror stories about it, so Peter had quite a job on his hands trying to convince us. But overall, because of the trust we have in him, we listened to his advice and went with it, and it was definitely the right decision.” Once Anthony made the decision to upgrade, he soon saw the benefits of the systems upgrade as he found, “the call quality of VoIP was considerably better than the call quality of the IDSN. Additionally, a benefit during the pandemic was that our staff were able to take them home and plug them into their home routers easily.”
Anthony expressed that Plums customer service has always been excellent as, “Peter knows his stuff, he’s very good at what he does and has always looked after us. One of the best things is that he actively gets involved which is the difference with some other telecommunications providers, where you don’t get that level of service. Peter has a wealth of knowledge and if you ever encounter a problem, you will get a much quicker response then if you had to work your way through a different company that had an escalation process that could sometimes take days or weeks.”
One thing Plum has done for Liquid Accounts that has stood out was when they moved offices, Peter advised about grants available for the installation of the broadband connections. “Without the help from Peter, we wouldn’t have known about that”.
Anthony would recommend Plum Communications to other businesses.
Overall, to sum up working with Plum, Anthony said they are, “reliable, thoughtful, contentious, informed and knowledgeable. We love working with companies that have all of these qualities and it’s very hard to find them these days”.
